Today was a great day in Eisenach.
Martin Luther spent basically his high school years in the town of Eisenach, where his relatives on his mother's side lived. Here he learned Latin, and here he also learned to love music. Luther believed that music was second only to the Gospel in its ability to make the heart glad. According to Luther, this is why the devil hates music, and why after God's Word music is the next most precious gift that God has given to man.
Eisenach is also the birth place of Johann Sebastian Bach, who lived about 200 years after Luther.
J. S. Bach was the owner of a fine library. That's right, he owned almost 60 books! It seems that about half of the books that Bach owned were authored by Luther. Here's Bach's set of Luther's works:
But the best thing about Eisenach is Wartburg Castle!
